Better late than never

OK, so it's a little after the conventional Thanksgiving, but I just feel like writing this, and so, in true Jenni procrastination fashion, here's some of the stuff I'm thankful for.

1) my family- as much as I bitch about them sometimes, I can't imagine life without them all. I have an amazing little son who's so sweet and loving that I almost cry and is so cute I'm going to have to give him "the sex talk" when he's like 5. I have a husband who works hard enough that I barely have to, and doesn't even complain (too loudly) when I don't remember to do laundry and wash dishes, much less any other cleaning. I love my mom, possibly more now that I have my own house and family- I think it goes along with the "absence makes the year grow fonder" thing. At least the space keeps us from fighting. I'm even glad for the in-laws (Nick, hopefully you've warned me before reading this so I can arrange for CPR to be onhand over that comment). Tim is a really cool brother, and Bob and Theresa are always willing to watch Will for us. And so far they've never complained if I play hooky from "family time".

2)my house and other random crap I've collected for it- Money may not buy
happiness, but it does buy creature comforts. Although I may whine at having to keep the place from being a federal disaster area, I do love my house for giving me somewhere to just chill out (without having to pay $4 a drink for coffee, at least). And of course, what house would be a home without the essentials like books, movies, and cds (plus a few other incidentals, like food)?

3)my overall life- I couldn't have said this not so many years ago, but I'm very happy to say I am genuinely thankful to be alive. As much as things and people drive me crazy sometimes, I wouldn't trade much of it for the world. (Yes "much" of it- come on, who wouldn't trade a credit card bill for the world? Any people out there looking to give away some cash? :-)

4) my cats- Granted I've usually got random holes in my skin from them running across me while I'm sleeping, but I do love them.

5)Nick- It's fits him to have a category to himself. There is really no way to classify someone that ecclectic into a group with other people. I doubt I could ever even remember all I have to be thankful to him for, much less write it out, so we'll just leave it at this: I am thankful for Nick.

Well, I'm sure there are lots of other things I could write here, but these are what I really wanted to say. I was just sitting here on the computer reading through the 125 emails I've accumulated over the past 2 days and it occured to me that dispite the ridiculous amount of spam annoying me, I had a smile on my face. I looked over on the couch to check on Will napping, and I just had to write all this out. If only I could be so productive in my story writings... Oh well, one thing at a time, and right now my thing is "researching" my stories. But that's a whole other entry.
