When I started this survey I had one point, to see if the general populace of The Miami Valley School felt that the Internet was usable. 100% of the people surveyed had a computer and 60% of them used the Internet.
The speed of the Internet has been increasing, as has the demand for the bandwidth used up.. The people surveyed on average considered the speed of the Internet to be in the middle of a ten point scale at an average of 5.6.
Information is the heart of the Internet, it was designed to provide information, and it has still not achieved the goal of making specific information easily available. When searching for a specific piece of information people gave and average of 4.63 on a ten point scale for finding a specific piece of information.
While people were not able to find specific pieces of information they considered the Internet moderately usable, assigning on average a 6.22 on a ten point scale. This suggests that many people consider the Internet usable for their tasks but they find it hard to find a specific piece of information, when they need it.
Most people consider sites on the Internet to be clear, concise, easy to read, and easy to understand, with only one person disagreeing from this.
My most surprising finding was not directly related to the Internet, but instead related to this survey I found that 6.7% of the people surveyed could not properly follow a filter question. This is most probably due to a design error of the survey on my part, because the survey had the directions for the filter questions on the next page due to a printing error.
When planning another survey I would change several things, first I would provide more explanations for the questions, to ensure the reader understood me, and I would make sure the directions for filter questions were in the right place.
